Learning outcomes

The students are expected to develop an extensive knowledge of linguistic and discursive structures of the German language, in both synchronic and diachronic terms, and to be able to apply them profitably to textual analysis and translation.

Through practical exercises, their communicative skills (both active and passive) will progress towards the C2 level of the Common European Framework.

Course contents

The course "Lingua tedesca" (German language) includes:

I. Lectures (lezioni frontali) - 60 hours, held by prof. Claudia Tatasciore

II. Practical language classes (esercitazioni linguistiche) - 36 hours, held by the Foreign language instructor Christiane von Stumpfeldt.

Regular attendance and active participation in all classes are strongly recommended.

The lectures (I) will take place in the second semester.

The start of the practical language classes (II) will be in the second semester also.

Contents:

The aim of this course is to increase the lexical, textual and discursive competence of German language. Written texts of different text typologies will be introduced for the analysis.

Texts will be choosen also for their topical interest in the German speaking area. Moreover, students will be get acquainted with some literary texts in which the linguistic reflection is encouraged by a plurilingual experience. Therfore, the main theme chosen for the course will be "Migration".

II. The aim of the practical language classes is to deepen the understanding of the language structures and to extend the ability to use them and to improve the oral comprehension and expression.

Lectures:

Texts for the analysis will be provided at the beginning of the lessons.

Practical language classes: "Erkundungen B2", Schubert Verlag. Please get the book befor the start of classes.

Teaching methods

All lessons are interactive requiring the students' direct and active participation.

Assessment methods

I. Lectures (lezioni frontali) -written examination:

theoretical and practical questions on the topics treated in the course.

 

II. Practical language classes: grammar and vocabulary test

Teaching tools

Beside the written texts, also audios and videos will be used.
