Course contents

Art internship is a working experience you can carry out within Unibo (departments, libraries, etc.) or external institutions, either in Italy or abroad, holding an agreement with the University of Bologna.

Who is eligible

Art internship is an optional activity. So, it is essential and mandatory that you include it in your online study plan, choosing "curricular internship" among your 3° year's electives. It cannot be done during the 1° or the 2° year.

Duration

150 hours (= 6 credits) [25 hours = 1 credit] within a maximum of 6 months.

How to find an internship

You can either select existing internship offers from the University's internships database and apply to them, or take action to create your own internship by contacting an institution of your interest. If you wish to do an internship at an institution that is on the database, but such institution has no internship openings, you can still show them your interest, by sending them a letter of inquiry; if your application is approved, ask the School to publish an offer addressed to you (known as “ad personam” offer), via the internship database. If you contacted institutions/structures which are not on Unibo internships database, and if they are willing to host Unibo interns, an agreement should be made between University and the institution/structure, prior to starting your placement.

Internship application procedure

  1. include the art internship in your study plan (3° year);
  2. take the online Course on health and safety in study and internship areas; once you have passed the test, download the certificate from Studenti Online;
  3. send the identified institution your candidature from the internship database, stating the name of your University tutor (Chiara Tartarini) and uploading your CV and your cover letter. Your request will be validated by your University tutor and by the Internship Board of your degree programme;
  4. download from the internship database your internship programme form: sign it and obtain the signature of the supervisor from the hosting institution;
  5. upload the signed material and wait for the application's approval;
  6. once approved, download from the website your internship's attendance sheet: this is essential to get the internship started.

N.B. The internship cannot begin if you have not completed this procedure (1-6). It must be carried out in the period in between start/end dates shown on the attendance sheet, within a maximum of 6 month.

The online Course on health and safety in study and internship areas is compulsory; you have to complete it and pass the test before the beginning of the internship.

During the internship

You need to fill in your attendance sheet and activity log. Before leaving the internship position, make sure that your attendance sheet is duly filled and signed by your hosting institution's supervisor.

At the end of the internship

You have to upload the filled and signed attendance sheet on the internships website. Then you’ll receive an email: please fill in the evaluation form (you'll find online) and upload it on the internships website, along with a brief report (1 page) on your internship's learning outcomes. On their part, the hosting institution will have to fill in another evaluation form.

Internship extension or interruption

Extension - You can extend your internship only if you have not completed your 150 hours (needed to obtain 6 credits). The extension must be notified by email to the Teaching Office [info.lettere@unibo.it] before the initially agreed end date. Please remind that the internship can last a maximum of 6 months.

Interruption - You can interrupt your internship for any reason and at any time. The interruption must be notified by email to the Teaching Office [info.lettere@unibo.it] before the initially agreed end date. After the interruption, you have to begin a new internship; no activities of the suspended internship will be recognised.

Assessment methods

You will be not graded using a 30-points scale; you'll obtain only a pass-fail evaluation based on the supporting documentation. To record the curricular internship in your career you have to register on AlmaEsami (Chiara Tartarini).
