Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide students with specific knowledge and computer skills of individual productivity programs.

Course contents

The objective of the course is to enable students to acquire knowledge and know-how of the main I.T applications.

Given the instrumental nature of the notions, it is strongly advisable to substain the exam by the end of the 1st year.

COURSE CONTENTS

Computer architecture.
Binary systems.
Input and output devices.
Secondary memories.
Operating system: operating systems, Windows 10.
The software: application programs, Office suites.
Word processing: basic use of a word processing software (creation and layout of documents).
Spreadsheet: basic use of a spreadsheet software (operations, functions, graphs).
Multimedia presentations: basic use of software for creating multimedia presentations (slides, graphic objects).
Databases: database management (construction of tables, reports, forms, and queries).
Open Source and software licenses.
Computer networks: technical knowledge of the fundamental structure of the Internet as a packet-switched network.
The web: basic concepts, main services offered, analysis of Web 2.0 services.
Computer programming: base concepts, programming methods, HTML, XML, markup languages, programming techniques,web programming.
Bibliographic and documental research online.

Readings/Bibliography

It is not necessary to purchase specific texts. The slides presented in class are sufficient for the theoretical part of the course.
