Learning outcomes

The discipline aims to provide an indepth knowledge of the material, archaeological aspects of the print book of all ages and the techniques of analysis of the materials used, and the production techniques used, from manuals of origins to modern technologies . The student learns to identify, date and describe bibliographically the artefacts produced through the printing techniques over time and to reconstruct the history of editions analytically.

Course contents

The course provides an overview of the discipline, with particular attention to the material aspects of the press book. The materials that make up the antique print book, the production processes, the figures involved, and the structure of the book will be analyzed.

articular importance will be given to the incunabula that will be the subject of a laboratory part of the course.

Assessment methods

The exam consists of an oral interview to assess the knowledge of the topics discussed during the lessons and the recommended bibliography, and the critical and methodological abilities matured by the student. They will consider: - Mastery of the content - The ability to synthesize and analyze the themes and concepts - The ability to know adequately and with appropriate language to the subject matter. You will notice that inadequate training and / or language gaps will lead to vows that will not suffice. Lack of training, inappropriate language, lack of orientation within the bibliographic materials offered during the course will be evaluated negatively.
