Course contents

The course aims to analyse and deepen the most significant aspects of the right to Health in relation to the practice of sport and sporting events, considering the rules and constitutional principles on which the complex national and regional legislative framework is based, as well as the doctrinal evolutions and the jurisprudential dictates that have contributed to enrich the regulatory framework of reference.


Particular attention will be paid to the health service and the system of health promotion through the practice of sport, to the athletes' health control system and the anti-doping system, as well as to the division of institutional competences.


Policies, procedures and practices will be analysed.

Teaching methods

Teaching will be divided into frontal lectures and collateral activities aimed at encouraging student involvement.


In the frontal lectures, a systematic exposition of the topics covered by the Course will be conducted, according to the above-mentioned syllabus, followed by an examination of the jurisprudence on the individual topics addressed.


Space will be dedicated to dialogue and debate with students on topics in which they have shown particular interest.

Assessment methods

The lectures will be held in the second semester and, therefore, those who obtain a certificate of attendance will be able to sit the exam from the following May.


The exam consists of a written exam, with open-ended answers, according to the test format defined by the Degree Course.


The test will focus on topics related to those indicated in the "Programme and Contents" section.


For students attending the course only: at the student's request, the test may also consist of an oral discussion of a topic agreed upon with the lecturer, starting from a subject discussed during the course.


The assessment of the test will be carried out taking into consideration


- the knowledge of institutional profiles


- the ability to analyse jurisprudential and doctrinal orientations;


- the ability to make connections between the different parts of the programme;


- the ability to develop critical arguments;


- the articulation of the exposition;


- the accuracy of the exposition.


The verification of the expected knowledge takes place on the occasion of the examination, aimed at assessing the attainment of the training objectives envisaged. The examination consists of an interview with the lecturer and the chair's collaborators on the topics covered by the course programme.


The assessment will take into account knowledge of institutional profiles, the ability to analyse doctrinal and jurisprudential orientations, to make connections between the various parts of the programme and to develop critical arguments, as well as clarity of exposition.


By way of simplification, the awarding of the final grade will be based on the following criteria:


Sufficient or slightly more than sufficient preparation on the topics covered, poor critical ability, difficulty in using technical-legal language → 18-21;




Fair or rather good preparation on the topics addressed, fair critical ability, good use of technical-legal language → 22-25;




Good or more than good preparation on the topics addressed, good critical ability, mastery of technical-legal language → 26-29




Substantially comprehensive preparation on the topics addressed, very good critical ability, full command of technical-legal language → 30-30L.





Dissertation


The assignment of the dissertation is subject to registration on the special list and subsequent interview with the lecturer.


In particular, for the assignment of the thesis it is necessary to enrol on a special list maintained by Dr. Federico Laus (federico.laus@unibo.it).


To enrol on the list, no more than three examinations must be taken.


The assignment of theses to the students thus enrolled takes place, collectively, four times a year (usually in October, February/March, May and July).


At that time, a series of titles will be proposed, but it is possible to indicate one's preferences as to the subject of the thesis project, without prejudice to the teacher's final choice.


As a rule, theses are assigned on a chronological basis, in compliance with the chair's maximum limit, also taking into account the maturity of the course attendance and the convinced expression of interest in the subject. A certain amount of time in advance is therefore recommended when applying for registration.


A copy of the completed thesis must be handed in to the lecturer at least one month before the deadline for online submission of the thesis.

Teaching tools

Seminars and tutorials will be held as part of the course and the relevant dates will be announced by the lecturer or posted on the appropriate faculty notice boards as well as in the lecture and reception rooms.


Students who, for reasons dependent on disabilities or specific learning disorders (DSA), require compensatory tools may inform the lecturer of their needs so that they can be referred to the contact persons and the most appropriate measures can be agreed upon.
