Learning outcomes

This course will help you understand the role that financial institutions and markets play in the business environment and the connection between financial markets, financial institutions and the economy.

Course contents

Overview of financial institutions and markets.
Determinants of interest rates and security valuation.
Monetary policy in the Euro area.
Money markets, bond markets, mortgage markets, stock markets, derivative securites markets.
Commercial bank management and regulation.
Other financial institutions: insurance companies, securities firms, mutual funds, pension funds.

Lectures.

Assessment methods

The exam consists of a written test (in Italian), which is divided into questions, exercises with a business calculator and tests on the various topics of the course.

Hint: if you don't have a good command of the Italian language please do not pick this course, there are others taught in English.
