Readings/Bibliography

Given the highly interactive feature of this course, ad hoc reading materials and documents will be selected and discussed in the classroom, following the development of learning process.

Basic and necessary readings are as follows:

  1. Bartram D. & Roe R.A. (2005). Definition and assessment of competences in the context of the European diploma in Psychology. European Psychologist, 10, 93-102.
  2. Briner R.B., Rousseau D.M. (2011). Evidence-Based I–O Psychology: Not There Yet. Industrial and Organizational Psychology, 4, 3–22.

Teaching methods

Brief lectures, in-class exercises, case study, assignment of individual or small group tasks, scientific paper analysis.

Teaching materials will be uploaded on the e-learning platform. Students are strongly encouraged to consult these resources for an active learning. Students are expected to come to class prepared, on time, ready to discuss and ask questions, since they are by definition the most important persons interested in the quality of learning process.

Assessment methods

No dedicated assessment will be done for this module, which forms part of the whole Orientation Course.
This first part of the course will be assessed together with the second one (taught by prof. Pietrantoni), following the rules and conditions presented there (see here [https://www.unibo.it/sitoweb/luca.pietrantoni/teachings/2021] ).

In particular, learning acquisitions made by students in this first part of the course, will be demonstrated by their ability to discuss the contents pertaining to prof. Pietrantoni's part of this Orientation Course: a) showing mastery of the Scientist-Practitioner Model; b) making evident the role played by evidence-based practices in the domain(s) chosen by students for the final assessment.

Teaching tools

Slides, movies.

Discussions based on previous team- and individual-based work made by students on specific assignments (e.g., documents to review and summarize in a critical way).
