Learning outcomes

Contents and abilities to be gained

In its first section, the course aims at analyzing the historical evolution of the enviromentalist thought, the inset of the concept of sustainable development and themes of environmental politics. Through the analysis of national and international literature, the concepts and practices of environmental education, education in nature and outdoor education will be dealt with, up to education for sustainability. At the end of the module, the student: - knows the historical evolution of the environmentalist thought and the theoretical framework of sustainable development, in a global and critical perspective; - is aware of themes of environmental politics (functions, institution and management of protected areas), with a special focus on the Emilia-Romagna Region; - is able to plan and manage projects based on the nexus between nature and culture at the local level; - knows concepts and practices typical of the specific educational and didactic; - will be able to analyze environmental education projects carried out in schools and territories; - will know the indispensable methodologies for planning and coordinating intentional educational and didactic experiences oriented towards sustainability in natural contexts; - he will be able to continue his path of knowledge of the debate on the issue by autonomously consulting conventional sources and materials proposed by the network.

Prerequisites

A basic knowledge of Ecology and theoretical models regarding Sustainabilty and active teaching methodologies.

Teaching methods

The course will make use of theoretical lectures, in-depth study of application case studies and exercises, active / cooperative teaching methodologies with the aim of promoting critical and active participation of students.
