91137 - Sport Education and Motor Praxeology

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will know some specific issues concerning the start-up and sports education in childhood, both as regards the skills that a coach/educator must have, and the aspects related to family involvement and the role a school can play in promoting the culture of sporting activity. In particular, the educational mediation paths that characterise children committment in sport will be highlighted; the psycho-pedagogical and management issues that characterise sport contexts and the correct ways to deal with both boys and girls. A proper sports education has an important reference point in motor practice. At the end of the course, the student will have skills about analysis of educational experiences, both in formal and non-formal contexts, the epistemological foundations of Motor Praxeology, a branch of human motor sciences, in particular the following basic concepts: Motor Conduct; Universals of Game, Internal and External Logic of Game, Sociomotricity, Semio-motricity. Each category of play is worthy of analysis and evaluation in relation to its educational contributions, especially taking into account that recreational motor activities develop, on a pedagogical level, important skills about the motoric conducts of decision. 

Course contents

Sport education:

• Psychopedagogical skills of coaching.
• Characteristics of sports setting aimed at children.
• Family, school and sport.
• Ethical aspects of sport education

Motor Praxeology:

• Universal of Game: Space, Time, Objects, Scores, Roles, Relationships.
• Motor Communication: Ludemas (Gestemas and Praxemas)
• Classification of motor activities, following two dimensions: Communications amongst players and Interactions towards physical elements.

The examination will take place using one of the following options, as preferred:


- Written test with both multiple-choice and open-ended questions


- Oral examination


- Project Work (topic and method to be agreed in advance)
