Course contents

"Theater of the Oppressed as Methodology for Analysis and Change in the Pedagogical Field"

The workshop aims to introduce participants to the knowledge of the Theater of the Oppressed Method (TO) and to the practice of reflective and meta-reflective analysis applied to the pedagogical field. TO, a theatrical methodology developed by Augusto Boal on the heritage of Paulo Freire's Pedagogy of the Oppressed, provides useful tools for communicative-relational strategies to guide educational action in a perspective of promoting awareness about styles and power implications.

Through the practical experimentation of theatrical activities, the group of participants will be facilitated in a maieutic path to discover the individual communicative repertoire and the complex social dynamics that theater, as a space of possibility, can help to unveil.

The exchange and comparison of points of view, the possibility of activating divergent thinking methods, the work on individual and group expressive potential, the synaesthetic dimension, which allows the path from a communicative repertoire to another one, will be the main elements on which the workshop will be based on.
