Learning outcomes

Course contents

The course has as focus Europe since the end of 19th century. It takes into account the geopolitical transformations and international relations that have taken place on the continent.

The course adds also a particular attention to the geopolitical reorganization of the Mediterranean area during the 20th century. 

Adressed to students both in History and in Geography, the course is particulary attentive to questions like urbanism, settlements, architectures, territory planing, migrations, local and transnational communications.

Teaching methods

Front lessons and discussion in class

Assessment methods

Students who attend at least 75% of the lessons are considered to be attending. Students are considered "frequentanti" if they have attended at least 24hours over 30.

Students  are admitted at the oral exams only if their paper receives minimun of 24/30. For the others if they pass with minimun 23/30 answering questions in relation to the compulsory readings.

Students must write a final paper  and discuss it in a oral exam. Final paper in English, French, or Spanish is permitted.


Teaching tools

Frontal classes and seminar classes with the readings, analysis and discussion of documents, maps, video etc. Choice of the individual final paper in a collective discussion in class
