31125 - Professional Skills Laboratory: Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Sciences II (G.A)

Academic Year 2021/2022

Learning outcomes

EUROPEAN PROJECTS DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT

General objectives

The European Projects Laboratory is characterized by promoting, in an integrated way, specific technical skills related to European design, interpersonal skills, such as the ability to work in teams and express opinions and sensations, and systemic skills, such as the ability to understand and manage the project as a system interacting with other systems. Basically we want to reinforce both the area of technical skills and the transversal skills.

More specifically, at the end of the six meetings, participants will have acquired and / or reinforced aspects related to the key competences for lifelong learning (as indicated in the recommendations of the Council of the European Union of 22 May 2018) divided as follows:

Civic competences (participants will be able to:)

  • Apply the knowledge about structural funds and Community programs (which will be acquired in the laboratory) in the framework of the European Union values and the integration policies.

Entrepreneurship (participants will be able to:)

  • Identify the opportunities for the realization of project ideas by knowing the characteristics of the funds available by the EU and their methods of delivery and management
  • Draw up a training project in Europe
  • Adopt an appropriate design approach to the realization of complex interventions with a national and transnational dimension
  • Adopt project management approaches
  • Adopt strategies to build partnership networks

Personal, social and learning competence (participants will be able to:)

  • Acquire a vision of the complexity that characterizes the management of planning in the European context and contextualize it, through reflection, in professional roles
  • Reinforce elements of social participation by integrating the aspects of continuing education and those of lifelong learning

Cultural awareness and expression (participants will be able to:)

  • Manage training projects in the European context, including the social, cultural and political context in which the project takes place
Digital competences (participants will be able to:)
  • Use the sites and applications dedicated to European design

Language (participants will be able to:)

  • Reinforce language skills through the use of materials in English

Course contents

EUROPEAN PROJECTS DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT

The contents and methods of implementation are illustrated in detail below, divided into the individual meetings of the laboratory.

First Meeting → European Projects: the basic themes
Contents:
The strategies of the European Union
The EU structural funds
The 2021-2027 European Programs
Methodology:
The half day will be alternated between group work and theoretical interventions / classroom research

Second Meeting → The Project Cycle Management
Contents:
Designing complex interventions
The Project Cycle Management
Project management roles
Methodology:
After some theoretical stimuli we will proceed to simulate some design aspects (at a general level) and we will discuss the contents and the design modalities

Third Meeting → Project in concrete
Contents:
The elements that allow to frame a "call for proposal"
Methodology:
The half day will be dedicated to identifying, by analyzing a real project of the European Union (or other organism with a supranational dimension), the overall aspects that make it possible to define the overall framework

Fourth Meeting → The management of a project / 1
Contents:
Analysis of a real case
Methodology:
In this half day and in the next one we will focus on the management of a project starting from its draft up to the evaluation using the methodology of the incident

Fifth Meeting → The management of a project / 2
Contents:
Analysis of a real case
Methodology:
In this half day the project management activity will continue using the incident methodology. An overall summary of the contents addressed in the course will also be made

Sixth Meeting → Project management
Contents:
Project management of an European project
Monitoring and evaluation of complex interventions
Methodology:
Analysis of concrete cases will be favored where the participants will have to analyze projects and understand what strengths and weaknesses they show
