Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will have a basic knowledge on the production of energy from renewable sources (general overview on renewable energy, renewable energy sources and relevant indicators, environmental impact of energy systems) and the basic tools needed to understand the policies and energy plans at local and national level.

Course contents

Motivations. Energy and quality of life. Tecnologies: photovoltaic, solar thermodynamic, wind, geothermal and idro, sea, biomass, energy storage, heat pumps, fuel cells, energy transportation and smart grid, transport, efficiency, recycle. Management: international, national and local legislation, burden sharing, SET Plan, parameters for the classification of energy from biomasses, administrative, economic analysis, case studies.
