Learning outcomes

Identify the major components and topography of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Correlate the anatomy of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems with their function. Describe the development of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Course contents

CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Heart - surface topography and anatomy, pericardium, internal configuration, structure, vascularization and innervation.Cardiogenesis.
Organization of blood vessels. Aorta and its collateral branches. Venae cavae and azygos veins

Lymphatic system: organization of lymphatic vessels, thoracic duct and main lymphatic vessels.
Lymphoid and hematopoietic organs: microscopic anatomy of: thymus, lymph nodes, MALT.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
Superior and inferior airways: topography, systematic anatomy, vascularization, innervation. Development of respiratory system.
Lungs: topography and macroscopic anatomy, bronchial tree, functional circle and nutritious circle, innervation. Microscopic anatomy of: lungs, bronchi and trachea

Teaching methods

Lectures

Attendance to learning activities is mandatory; the minimum attendance requirement to be admitted to the final exam is 60% of lessons. For Integrated Courses (IC), the 60% attendance requirement refers to the total amount of I.C. lessons.
