Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student: - uses reflective skills on the existential dimensions of the couple and family relationships; - is able to deal with the cultural complex universe that distinguishes these relations - is able to support individuals and to approach others providing an educational care.

Course contents

Main contents of the course:

- The existential dimensions of the relationship with the other

- The acknowledgment of the own difference and the recognition of the others'

- Love as a tangle of thoughts and emotions

- Couple relationships and family: a prism with many faces

- attachment model and the influence on adult relationships

- Communication and conflict in the couple and family systems

- What it means educating to love.

Attending lessons is strongly advised in order to make the study easier and to have the opportunity to exchange thoughts and opinions among peers. 

An optional collective work to take part in will be suggested and it will replace a part of a compulsory reading. 

Assessment methods

  • The final exam is a written exam structured in 4 open questions. Each question stands for a different score, with a total sum of 30.
  • Each answer has a fixed number of lines.
  • For whom who took part in the collective work, the exam will consist in 3 questions.
  • The exam lasts 90 minutes.
  • Some questions aim to attest contents knowledge; some others aim to asses reflective and reasoning skills.
  • Full mark and honour will be assigned with 4 correct answers (both style and content), plus a well in-depth analysis and/or original and critical thinking worth of attention. Writing style will count too.
  • Registration on alma esami webpage is required in order to take the final exam.
