Learning outcomes

The student at the end of the module, after anthropomorphic dummy exercises, has competence on conventional radiology techniques explained in the frontal lectures in a protected and controlled place

Course contents

Hand washing and handling of the patient and hospital-acquired infections. Structure of a radiology: controlled areas and supervised areas. Practice on a dummy in direct digital diagnostics . TOPICS OF THE WORKSHOP AND ASSOCIATED INFECTIONS Definition of antisepsis and antiseptic, disinfectant, disinfection and sterilization. Distinctions between contamination, colonization and infection. Care-associated infection: definition, impact , global and Italian implications. Chain of infection, transmission routes and standard precautions. Medical waste: definition, classification, disposal, regulations, Marzaloni's film. DPI description, testing practices such as wearing masks , film on how to put on and remove DPI . Additional precautions for routes of transmission: contact, airborne and droplet.Cough etiquette. Hand hygiene: project WHO, mode of transmission by the hands. Why, when and how it should be performed hand hygiene in health care. The 5 moments for hand hygiene with particular reference to radiology. How to perform hand hygiene. Movies: hand hygiene with soap and water, alcohol gel, various situations. How and when to wear gloves as wear and remove them
