Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will be able to know the specific issues concerning sport education and the skills that a coach/educator in this area must possess, both for aspects related to the involvement of the family and the role that the school can play in promoting culture and sporting activity. In particular, the student will be able to: a) acquire the ability to reflect, in a critical and proactive form, on educational mediation that characterize the inclusion of children and girls in sports; b) recognize the psycho-pedagogical, technical and organizational problems that characterize sports settings for children and the correct ways to deal with them. In addition, the course will deepen the knowledge on the functioning of the cognitive system of athletes. The course will deepen the knowledge on the functioning of the cognitive system in athletes. In particular, we will investigate how the expertise acquired by athletes of various disciplines has allowed them to enhance and modify some cognitive abilities such as, for example, attention, motor anticipation and perception of objects and movement.

Course contents

SPORT EDUCATION

The contents will focus mainly on the pedagogical categories that characterize the sports setting in the age of development, coaching as educational method, the ethical aspects of sport and their learning. Experiences by the students will be interesting materials for analysis and discussionS.

COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPORT

Basic knowledge will be given on how the athlete acquires, stores and retrieves information, learns new knowledge, makes decisions, changes the attentional styles in the environment. In particular, learning and memory mechanisms related to movement will be analyzed.

In the first lesson will be presented some books concerning the theme of the course, among them the student will choose one on which to write a report/review (5000-6000 characters including spaces).

Lessons, film viewing, case stories, presentation of studies and researches.

Assessment methods

SPORT EDUCATION

The examination will be in written form, with multiple-choice questions, True/False answers, open questions; to which is added the report on the book of your choice. The last lesson of the course will be dedicated to illustrate in practice, both exam and evaluation.

COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPORT

Written test with 3 open questions on the main topics covered during the course. All the answers must be at least sufficient to pass the exam.

 

The final grade will be the weighted average between the two parts of the exam
