Learning objectives and acquired skills:

The objective of the course " Oriented Approach to the Problem: EMERGENCY MEDICINE of Dogs and Cats " is to promote active learning of the student,  intended as teamwork and personal elaboration , through the analysis and exposure of clinical cases presented as a model of the main diseases in the field of the Emergency and Critical Care.

The primary learning objective is that students learn to use appropriately and critically all the tools that allow you to obtain information relevant to the resolution of the clinical case and to be self confident in the clinical decision making

At the conclusion of the course , it is believed that the student who is actively engaged , may have developed the following skills :

Acquire procedural rules aimed at identifying clinical problems and define priorities on the patient presented in critical condition at a veterinary facility.

Acquire the basics necessary for the processing of the main small animals Emergency

Be able to find , analyze and discriminate the information useful to the resolution of the case by the different sources of scientific literature

 

 

 


Course contents

The course is divided into eight primary tracks primary , each equivalent to one CFU , organized according to the same procedural mode . Each primary theme is configured and is completed through the discussion on the approach and the management of a clinical case.

The activity is configured in moments of discussion with the tutor of subsequent levels of the problem posed by the case report, alternating self-employment of the students gathered in small groups

Scientific articles and reviews in peer reviewed journals , textbooks , original material supplied by the teachers , the material of the Faculty educational portal.

Teaching methods

Provide an interactive part , where students as a working group, discuss the approach to the clinical case in question with the teacher, intercalated with an important part of self-learning , in which students analyze and process the submitted clinical data .

Assessment methods

Student assessment will be at the last day of the course and will be carried out by the collegiality of the teachers involved that will produce a final vote elaborated in view of the active participation:

  • as a working Group in the class discussion with the tutor
  • for the preparation and presentation of the final powerpoint
