Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will have knowledge of the main risk factors present in the metalworking industry and of the possible effects on health, which will allow an independent assessment of which pathologies may have a possible professional origin. Furthermore, the student will acquire autonomous capacity to identify the main ways of preventing occupational diseases. Finally, the student will develop the ability to communicate what has been learned about the relationship between occupational exposure and illness.

Course contents

Practical tests and field evaluations of the risks present in the metalworking industry and the possible effects on health.

Main knowledge tools for the evaluation of pathologies that may have a possible professional origin.

Practical examples of "evidence based prevention" and criteria for identifying the main methods of effective prevention of pathologies of professional origin.

Meeting and visit to a metalworking factory.

Assessment methods

Multiple choice tests, or short written responses to a few questions.
