Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students are able to determine the physical characteristics necessary to optimize athletic performance at a high level and the influence of amateur and non-amateur sport activities on physical structure in the developmental, adult and old age classes. By means of practice, the students are able to measure the fundamental anthropometric dimensions and those useful for the physical structure and body composition valuation.
Course contents
Anthropomorphic factors which determine the success of an athlete; potential population, selective pressure, z-score; anthropometric aspects of selection; athletes anthropometric profiling; examples of morphological optimization. Talent identification and selection. Biological age determination. Techniques of stature prediction in adult age. Maturation and performance: variation in performance associated with maturation.
