Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students are able to understand and analyze key issues related to occupational diseases and injuries, preventive strategies, industrial hygiene and toxicology, occupational ergonomics, psychosocial risk factors, the concept of sustainable work ability and health promotion at workplace

  • Introduction to occupational medicine
  • Reference legislative frame. The role of the occupational physician.
  • Classification of occupational risk factors
  • Introduction to occupational toxicology and hygiene
  • Work-related cancers I: general concepts, neoplasm that are frequently caused by occupational risk factor
  • Work-related cancers II: high incidence neoplasms also related to occupational risk factor
  • Musculoskeletal disorders
  • Metal toxicit
  • Toxicity of aromatic solvents, aliphatic solvents, and ketones
  • Endocrine disruptors
  • Work-related skin disorders
  • Occupational hearing loss
  • Work-related respiratory disease
  • Reproductive hazards in the workplace.
  • Occupational medicine in the healthcare work setting
  • Psychosocial risk factors in the workplace. Models for job-stress. Bullying, mobbing, and burnout
