Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students shall: - know the basic legal tools in order to understand international phenomena (nature and creation of the legal rules, conclusion of treaties, international organizations), - know the institutional structure of the European Union and master issues such as the use of force and the UN security system, - recognize the legal bases of the most important acts adopted by States and International Organizations in the framework of international relations, - understand and contextualize documents relating to the practice - can discuss, fom a juridical point of view the issues addressed in class.

Course contents

The course intends to offer an in-depth knowledge of international law tools and principles. In particular it will deal with the following subjects: the international law subjects, the development of international law, the implementation of international law, the coercive enforcement of international law.

Teaching methods

Lectures with the discussion of case law and practical cases about the subject.

Assessment methods

Oral exam designed to evaluate the knowledge acquired by the student during the course and the critical analysis developed by the studying of case law.

 

Intermediate exam if required by the students attending the course. It could be a written exam made up of some questions on the first part of the course

Teaching tools

Lectures will be supported by the presentation of slides throgh the use of the projector and the PC.
