Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the journalistic fashion language and has basic notions of journalism. How work is organized in the editorials, as an article can be written, the history of Italian journalism and fashion communication. He has the basic tools for writing articles of various kinds, from chronicle to fashionable culture.

Course contents

Essential achievement of the progressive establishment of open societies, based on the exchange of information between the various actors involved in the economic, political, social and cultural scene, the journalistic communication interferes with its characteristics with the social environment. All the big and small variables acting in a collective environment, end up fixing the forms of  ournalism, although this can never be underestimated in its ability to orient these variables.

It is this complex event that the course intends to deal with, both through general considerations and by in-depth analysis of the sample on historical moments of particular significance related to the reality of Europe, USA, and our country, up to the latest stages marked by the technological revolution.

The course's objective is the study of journalistic language in general, and of the fashion press in particular, starting from some basic notions of journalism, from historical references to Italian journalism and, in particular, to fashion communication.

Assessment methods

In order to establish the knowledge of the basic prerequisites of Contemporary History, all enrolled students in the second year must have a compulsory written test (preliminary test).

A) Written test (preliminary test). There will be a 20 minutes written exam consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions. The test will be based on history from 1945 to 2000 and will be given through the e-learning platform of the University and will be considered passed by correctly answering 8 questions out of 15. There will be no votes but the test will be considered passed or not. Those who pass the test can try the examination of History of Journalism and Fashion Printing; those who do not pass the test cmust  try again the written exam. The date of the oral exam will be communicated on the test day.
To prepare for the preliminary test is enough to study any manual of contemporary history of the last year of high schools.

B) Examination of History of Fashion Journalism . The exam is given in written form on the texts indicated in the program and will be provided through the e-learning platform of the University. The exam consists of 16 multiple-choice questions and lasts 20 minutes. It will be considered outdated by correctly answering 9 questions out of 16.
Those who pass the test and accept the vote will have to verbalise it and will do so in the same day of the script.
Those who do not pass the exam will have to back it up again on another appeal date.
Who, even though he has passed the written test, is not satisfied with the vote, can take an oral exam on the same program, aware that the vote may be raised or lowered by a few points depending on the student's preparation; The date of the orale will be communicated on the day of writing.
During the exam, the student must demonstrate:
- thorough knowledge of the texts being planned;
- ability to interpret and re-elaborate topics;
- contextualization capability.
