The seminar aims to let students reflect critically on the concept of World Cultural Heritage. Through a multidisciplinary didactic approach, at the end of the seminar the student will learn to deal with issues related to the understanding of complexity by having refined methodological and transversal investigation tools particularly useful in a professionalizing perspective.

Course contents

Seminar: World Cultural Heritage: the Role of Humanities.

The seminar aims to focus on the UNESCO concept of world cultural heritage, in which both the tangible cultural heritage and the intangible cultural heritage are collected. The Cultural Heritage covers a broader spectrum involving aspects related to the themes of tradition, identity, cultural relations, but also the enhancement and transmission of heritage in a broad sense and cultural memory. A transversal path will be proposed, which will touch on keywords such as 'archive', 'memory', 'ethics', 'identity', 'inheritance', 'belonging', 'sustainability', putting them in contact with case studies and national and international experiences, in order to focus central themes and issues in the humanities world, offering useful perspectives also in a professionalizing perspective.
