97918 - Aesthetics of Space Time

Course Unit Page

Academic Year 2021/2022

Learning outcomes

The teaching intends to:

• promote in the student a critical thinking able to connect, finding similarities as well as differences, different disciplinary perspectives apparently distant from each other, such as those related to the languages of philosophy, literature, sciences and performing arts;

• cultivate the ability to develop a communicative competence, capable of transmitting specialized knowledge in an interdisciplinary and shared perspective;

• cultivate the ability to work in a group in a plural context.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

• understand the mechanisms underlying the space-time dimension from the point of view of the psycology of perception, of the neurosciences, of the mathematics and of the philosophy;

• analyze the models of representation of space-time, from those of literature and the languages of the performative arts to those of science, with particular attention to the problematic relationship that there exists, both in the scientific and artistic fields, between the heuristic efficacy of the model and its greater o less fidelity to the plurality of space-time reality.
