Learning outcomes

Students are expected to possess a deep knowledge of the metalanguage, as well as mechanisms, of the descriptive-analytical model of the French language. Moreover, they should be competent in all four communicative skills at the B-1 level of the Common European Framework.

Course contents

Courses of French Language and Linguistics during the Laurea Triennale deal with all the main characteristics of French language in all its dimensions (phonetics, morphology, lexicology , syntax) and aim at giving students the necessary methodological tools to practise it correctly.

OFFICIAL COURSE [Teacher: V. Zotti]: for students of GROUP 1 (Advanced) and GROUP 2 (Beginners) - 2nd SEMESTER

Official course lectures will be offered only during the 2nd semester.

This course aims at making students reflect on the mains issues of phonology, phonetics, morphology and lexicologogy of the French language.

Teaching methods

The exam is divided into two parts, one on French linguistics (corresponding to Zotti's lectures - 2nd semester) and one on French language (corresponding to Caddoux, Cohen and Manconi's language classes, 1st and 2nd semester).

The linguistics part of the exam is written, and the language part of the exam is both written and oral.

Assessment methods

The examen of French Language and Linguistics is composed of the following parts:

For Practical language classes:

- Grammaire et textes (written exam).

- Oral (Students can take this part of the exam after passing the written test). This oral exam will focus on a text or document studied during the course and will evaluate the student's capability of:

- understanding and expressing the contents of the texts;

- communicating clarly and correctly about the text;

- explaining the information in the text and expressing one's opinion .

For the Official course: a written test for French Linguistics, based on the main topics seen during the course (phonology, phonetics, morphology, lexicology, reading comprehension and paraphrase of short passages related to French language). The time allowed is 2 hours. No dictionary allowed.
