73349 - LABORATORIO DI FORMAZIONE PROFESSIONALE PER L'EDUCATORE NEI SERVIZI PER L'INFANZIA II (G.I)

Academic Year 2020/2021

Learning outcomes

At the end of the laboratory the student: - is able to apply independently the specific techniques learned autonomously or within projects organized by the institutions; - will know how to deal with other subjects on how to use documentation about learned techniques; - can use the specific knowledge learned in different services; - will be able to evaluate the limits and advantages of the learned technical instruments; - will be able to transfer the learned technologies in different contexts by making personal modifications and integrations.

Course contents

The laboratory focuses on the issue related to the use of digital tools and their applications by the very young, both in the teaching practice of services for children and in family practices. The "digital life" of boys and girls is at the center of debates which give rise to many questions and few certain answers and above all doubts on the use of new technologies before the age of 6, on the presence or absence of services, on the skills of parents in choose suitable multimedia products. What we are sure of is that the observation and exploration of technological devices and their use enters to the early experiences of children and influences them.

It then becomes necessary to propose a path, from the perspective of media education, in which the related languages are considered part of the literacy processes necessary for the development of adequate digital citizenship. Educational contexts for children can be seen as suitable environments for exploring the links between approaches to technologies and other learning experiences.
The main objective is to understand and analyze how the predisposition of situations, contexts, technological artifacts and software can allow children to have new sensory, cognitive and social experiences, while encouraging the development of balanced collaborative learning processes, based on the exchange between peers, the use of new languages and new cognitive styles.

The role of educational services is of fundamental importance in this area: mediate and familiarize themselves in the knowledge of these new languages, fostering a critical and active knowledge of the media, promoting the expressive and creative possibilities of children and new forms of active participation and digital citizenship.

Through examples and practical experiences, the laboratory intends to provide tools for:

- equip educators so that they know how to orient and guide children with skills and awareness in new environments;

- guide the choice of suitable APPs to allow children 0-3 years of age to have access and to have multimodal, visual-manipulative, and linguistic / multilingual experience, but also to stimulate interest and involvement in reading and writing;

- designing into services for early childhood, setting up the right contexts and multimedia activities that are more consistent with the development and growth of boys and girls.
