88419 –SKIN DISEASES

MICROBIOLOGY, SKIN DISEASES AND APPLIED BIOCHEMISTRY C.I.

After attending the skin disorders course, the student will learn the basic principles of clinical dermatology, including morphology, configuration and distribution of skin and mucosae lesions and an overview of molecular biology and immunology of the skin and cutaneous disorders.

Main subjects of interest will be inflammatory dermatoses, including infections and allergic reactions, skin cancer and chronic photoaging related diseases.

  • Skin and mucosae infections (bacterial diseases, fungal diseases, human papillomaviruses, human herpesviruses and other viral diseases, sexually transmitted infections)
  • Papulosquamous disorders and immunomediated dermatoses (psoriasis, eczematous eruptions and allergic contact dermatitis)
  • Acne and rosacea
  • Drug reactions (urticarial, erythema multiforme, purpura and vasculitis)
  • Pigmentary disorders (vitiligo)
  • Benign neoplasms (melanocytic nevi)
  • Principles of tumor biology and pathogenesis of skin cancer (benign epidermal tumors and proliferations, actinic keratosis, keratinocyte carcinoma, melanoma)
