Learning outcomes
The student will become acquainted with the literary texts proposed in the seminar, acquiring very specific knowledge of different themes and problems of classical literature, of philological, literary, historical kind.
Course contents
Different texts, verse and prose, from Homer down to the 1st-2nd century AD, will be read and discussed, with a special attention to their historical and literary contexts, to the critical editions and the modern translations available. The apparatus criticus will be read and discussed in class, as well as the translations from different ages and of styles.
Readings/Bibliography
Photocopies of the texts will be provided.
Teaching methods
Two lessons will be devoted to methodology. Later each student will be entrusted with the task of examining a text, and the results of this examination will be discussed in class.
Assessment methods
The student will be required to read and contextualize a new text, never proposed, with apparatus criticus and facing translation.
