  • Campus: Ravenna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Building Engineering (cod. 9199)

Learning outcomes

To provide the elements of solid mechanics useful in determining the stress and strain status of beams subject to the main stress characteristics: axial stress, bending moment, torsion and shear. To provide the basic knowledge of the mechanical properties of materials, experimental methods and quality control procedures. To make the students able to solve hyperstatic structures and perform structural safety assessment.

Course contents

REQUIREMENTS/PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

A prior knowledge and understanding of Mathematics and Physicsis required to attend with profit this course.

All lectures will be in Italian. It is therefore necessary to understand the Italian language to take advantage of the course and to use the teaching material provided.

Teaching methods

Mostly classroom lectures and exercises, using blackboard.

Some slides presentations for the part of solid mechanics.

A lesson will be devoted to practical activity in laboratory for the part of the material mechanics.

Assessment methods

The exam takes place in a single session and includes one written exercise (solution of a structure or study of a section) and questions on every part of the theory and its applications.
