Learning outcomes

During the course the student will acquire the basic knowledge of the causes of diseases, both inflammatory and degenerative, and their main morphological features. The student will be able to collaborate with veterinarians in the diagnostic process, sampling of lesions and animal health safety.

Course contents

Disease concept . Classification of causes of disease . Outline of diseases by physical, chemical, nutritional and infectious causes . Pathology of the regressive processes (atrophy , necrosis , apoptosis ). Pathology of hypertrophy and hyperplasia. Circulatory disorders ( hyperemia , hemorrhage, thrombosis, embolism, ischemia , edema) . Inflammation (acute and chronic) and tissue repair .Tuberculosis and Rhodococcosis.

Teaching methods

Frontal lectures and practicals in necropsy room (Ozzano dell'Emilia) or with the aid of gross pictures.

Assessment methods

Oral exam, consisting in 2 questions (15-20 minutes). The final evaluation score is the weighted average with the evaluation of the other modules that are part of the course. the cerifying teacher is Prf. Giovanni Poglayen
