Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students are expected to know the main clinical issues regarding the most common diseases of surgical interest, being able to recognize them in the single patient. Students will be able to correlate, in the context of the medicine on the territory, specific symptoms to the above diseases, of whom a correct diagnostic approach will be learnt.

In addition, students will learn the terminology of main surgical procedures and basic principles of surgical techniques in order to understand the functional consequences determined by such procedures.

Finally, students will achieve a basic knowledge of sequelae caused by the most common surgical procedures, as well as methodologies of follow-up, especially in the field oncology.

1) Diagnostic and therapeutic overview of pancreatic neoplasms

2) Evaluation of patients candidates to liver resection

3) Diagnostic and therapeutic overview of biliary tract cancers

4) Diagnostic and therapeutic overview of abdominal sarcomas and stromal tumors

5) Diagnostic and therapeutic overview of hepatocellular carcinoma
