Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has the basic information on the processes of internationalization of the fashion system, knows the most significant moments from the stage of product design to its distribution and consumption. By studying the main characteristics of the contemporary textile-clothing industry, the integrated chain, relocating to recent relocation phenomena, the student is able to frame the structural and cultural dynamics that characterize the globalization of the fashion system.

Course contents

During the lessons, the basic issues of designing, producing and communicating fashion in globalized markets will be addressed: production, communication of fashion in globalized markets. Analysis of the evolution of the "fashion cities", the multicentricity of current fashion, the role of new centers of design and production, with particular attention to Asia and the new meanings of "ethnic" fashion

Assessment methods

Testing in itinere. Final Written Examination. 31 multiple choice questions.

The questions test the knowledge of the main issues that present the globalization of fashion from a sociological and anthropological point of view. Students learn the basic changes in recent history of fashion in the world and in Italy in particular.
