Learning outcomes

After completing this module the student will have the ability to apply knowledge and understanding on the neuropsychological and behavioral disorders related to CNS diseases in particular in the patient with stroke. He knows the general concepts of clinical neuropsychology and physiotherapic implications of neuropsychological disorders, as well as the goals of rehabilitation and the recovery process.

Course contents

Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation
- Cognitive functions: general concepts of neuropsychology (definition, history) and basics of neuropsychological rehabilitation.
- Language and communication: the communication system. The aphasia: epidemiology, classification, characteristics of different syndromes, rehabilitation prognosis, rehabilitative approach, basics of rehabilitation. Case presentations.
- The visual-spatial skills: Unilateral spatial Neglect, epidemiology, clinical presentation, signs and functional impact, rehabilitation. Case presentations.
- The apraxia: description of the apraxic disorders. Outline of rehabilitation and case presentations.
- The language disorders in head trauma.
