Learning outcomes

After completing this module the student will have the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the essential patterns of interpretation of motor development, the motor behavior of the child and its variability. Locate the preventive and rehabilitative needs of the child with the main developmental disorders through the various evaluation methods. He knows the tools used to achieve the objectives identified. He knows how to plan and carry out interventions aimed at satisfying the aforementioned needs.

Course contents

Clinical reasoning in children: definition, the phases of the clinical reasoning: history-taking with its clinical diagnosis made by the doctor, functional assessment, identification of therapeutic targets, planning rehabilitation intervention (project, physiotherapy program), revaluation.

Obstetrician paralysis: functional evaluation: evaluation of impairment made through observation, inspection, palpation, mobilization and administration of tests and rating scales. Outcome measures. Therapeutic goals, physiotherapy strategies to the fulfillment of the objectives supported by tests of effectiveness available in the scientific literature .The physiotherapy (postural care, mobilization, massage, facilitating active movements, splinting, functional bandage).

Scoliosis: Functional Assessment: evaluation of impairment, disability assessment and participation in social life, outcome measures: Some outcome measures of relief: English Revised Version of the Scoliosis Research Society-22 Patient Questionnaire SRS-22r, (function, pain , mental health, self-image, management of satisfaction / dissatisfaction) SF 36 (physical function, role, pain, vitality, activity 'social, emotional, mental health). Therapeutic goals, strategies physiotherapy to the fulfillment of the objectives. Main methods of physiotherapy.

Infantile Cerebral Paralysis: rehabilitation setting. Infant in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Functional evaluation: evaluation of impairment made through observation, inspection, palpation, mobilization and administration of tests, rating scales. Outcome measures. Disability assessment. Therapeutic goals, physiotherapic strategies to the fulfillment of the objectives. The care in NICU. Postural care program, kangaroo, infant massagge, aids.

  • The assessment evaluation is done only through the final exam, which ensures the acquisition of knowledge and skill expectations. The final vote is called out of thirty, with an oral exam, the average obtained in three specific questions on topics related to the main learning objectives of the course.
