Learning outcomes

After completing this module , the student has skills on the founding principles of the equipment of nuclear medicine ( PET , CT / PET , gamma-cameras , etc. ) .

Course contents

Principles of scintillation detectors. Definition of energy resolution of a detector. The gamma camera. Characteristics and size of the detector. Photomultipliers. Circuits positioning. Collimators: physical and constructive. Type range of modern rooms: systems 1, 2, 3 heads; fixed and variable geometry; processing systems. Elements of electronic detectors. Preamplifier. Educational and amplification of the pulses. Discrimination. Problems of downtime. Converter Recalls on digital imaging in nuclear medicine. Quality Assurance in Nuclear Medicine. Calibration of gamma cameras; main mode of quality control. Multimodal tomography SPET-CT. Radiation protection of patients in nuclear medicine. Manufacturing background of radionuclides. The principles of positron emission tomography. Detectors for PET tomography. Acquisition protocols: static, dynamic, and gated tomographic.
