Learning outcomes

As main learning outcomes students will be able to plan and manage immunohistochemical techniques in the histopathological laboratory. They would also be able to critically review their work in order to improve the final product and tuning it on histopathologist's demands.

Course contents

The teaching plan: 1. The antibody: Principles of the antigen-antibody reaction, What kind of antibodies we use, Pitfalls in immunohistochemical antibody applications;  2. Detection systems;  3. Antigen Retrieval techniques;  4. How to select the right immunohistochemical test: strategies and pitfalls;  5. Immunohistochemical markers and histopathological differential diagnosis;  6. Pitfalls in immunohistochemistry.

Assessment methods

In the final assessment the student must answer one question on the program carried out. The student has a series of multiple choice questions to check his preparation during his class attendance.
