1) Medical Statistics
Introduction:
Biological variability
Descriptive statistics:
font definitions, and statistical sample universe.
• Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics; sample characteristics (representativeness; abundance); random selection (random number tables).
• Scale measurement (nominal, ordinal, numeric).
• Frequency distributions; number of classes; frequency density; cumulative frequency; percentiles.
• Graphical representations.
Summary indicators:
• Indicators of central tendency (arithmetic mean, mode and median), indices of variability (range, deviance, variance, standard deviation); indices of shape of the distribution.
Elements of probability:
• Definition and first laws of probability
• Conditional probability and independent
• Bayes theorem and its applications
• discrete random variables: distribution Bernoulli, binomial and Poisson
• Continuous random variables: the exponential and normal density
Elements of statistical inference
• The logical inference
• Problems estimate
• The statistical model: parameters and estimators
• Estimate the expected value for a normal model: sampling distribution of the mean
• Confidence Interval
• Null hypothesis and alternative; "P-value"
