Learning outcomes

At the end of the training course, students will:

  • be familiar with and understand the main explanatory theories of the learning processes that individuals go through in work contexts, and with reference to new technologies;
  • be able to use such technological resources for also creating their own continuing professional development plan, which can be adopted especially in contexts of work, organisations and human resources.

Course contents

The programme is based on practical activities concerning some of the main theoretical aspects addressed in class within the course code 32490 - Lifelong Learning - with Exercises - II.
The activities will be characterised by individual or group exercises, to be done at times in a classroom setting and at other times from a distance in preparation for the next lecture. In particular, their focus will be on the following themes:

  • Lifelong Learning in the EU perspective
  • Social Network Analysis (SNA) & Organizational Network Analysis (ONA)
  • Web 2.0 artifacts for social capital development
  • A debate on emerging adulthood
  • Issues related to Internet safety (e.g. cyberbullying; identity theft; online addiction, fraud and hacking)

Readings/Bibliography

The course is based on scientific texts and contributions that will be presented and treated from time to time by the lecturer during classes. Some of these publications will be the subject of both group discussions in the lecture room and activities to be carried out at a distance in preparation for classes.

Teaching methods

In addition to the typical face-to-face lectures, which will be supported by different types of web content (e.g. texts, images, videos and applications), students will have the opportunity to interact with experts at distant sites through videoconference.

Assessment methods

The final assessment is based on two components:

  1. Activities carried out sequentially (continuous assessment)
  2. A final exam

Participation in classes and the carried out activities are a prerequisite for admission to the final exam.

The final exam: A 15 to 20-page written assignment on a text of your choice from the list provided by the lecturer is to be completed. The assignment should highlight the main arguments, strengths and weaknesses of the text, as well as its core associations with the themes discussed within the course.

OVERALL ASSESSMENT: The grade awarded will be the sum of the scores achieved for the sequential activities and the final exam.
