Learning outcomes

1. To know the ethical and medico-legal aspects of shared care planning introduced in our country by law 219/17;

2. To know the psychological and relational problems of shared care planning, particularly in the case of chronic-degenerative diseases;

3. To know the foundations of palliative care regulated by law 38/2010;

4. Knowing how to promote a shared and planned decision-making process within a care relationship, in light of prognosis factors, in a personalizing care process;

5. To know how to apply the knowledge acquired to concrete situations in terms of communication, sharing and preparation and/or modification of shared care plans, including the identification of a trustee.


Course contents

In general, the course focuses on the ethical and medico-legal aspects of shared care planning. In particular, the module is dedicated to 1. History, philosophy and organization of palliative care 2. Principles of remodulating objectives and treatments 3. Early palliative care and concurrent palliative care 4. Progressive consensus in palliative care

 

Readings/Bibliography

During the course, teaching material will be provided and lesson presentations will be available online. 

Teaching methods

Lectures and case discussions. Small group exercises with subsequent plenary discussion.

Assessment methods

The exam will consist of a single test for all 3 modules that make up the Laboratory. It will be a written assignment, consisting of 5 closed-ended questions, 3 open-ended but constrained questions and 2 open-ended questions. The questions are aimed at ascertaining the adequacy of the knowledge acquired regarding the course topics and the ability to organize and integrate relevant information. Passing the exam is based on the correctness, completeness, adequacy and articulation of the answers. At the end of the course, students will receive an example of how the questions will be structured. To complete the task the students will have 30 minutes and the outcome of the test will be PASSED or NOT PASSED.
