Learning outcomes

The course is aimed at offering a critical study on the regulation of collective labour relations: knowledge of Industrial Relations System, Trade Union Law, Regulation of Employment Relationship. It’s able to consult the discipline properly.

Course contents

he course will be focused on the following issues.

I

  • The employment relationship.
  • The trade unions law.
  • The trade union.
  • Workers' representative structures at workplaces.
  • The freedom of association (trade union) principle.
  • Trade unions' rights and representativeness.

II

  • The special procedure against employers' anti-union behaviours. Collective labour agreements typologies; in particular, the collective agreement "di diritto comune" (regulated by common private law) and in public administrations.
  • The evolution of collective bargaining and its structure.
  • Collective bargaining and the law.
  • Focus: The organisation of employment relationship.

III

  • The right to strike, the lock-out and other industrial actions.

Teaching methods

Lectures, in Italian language.

The course will take place through lectures for all the thematic areas referred to under the heading Programs / contents, also taking into account the contribution of the students attending the topics themselves.

Assessment methods

The exam will be held as an interview.

The interview will focus on the topics indicated in the "Program and contents" section.

Students are allowed to integrate the previously indicated program with specific in-depth studies identified directly with the teacher or according to the instructions that will be provided in class.

The evaluation of the test will be carried out taking into consideration:

• knowledge of institutional profiles;

• the ability to analyze the jurisprudential and doctrinal guidelines;

• the ability to make connections between the different parts of the program;

• the ability to develop critical arguments;

• the articulation and accuracy of the explanation.

In particular:

- preparation on a very limited number of topics dealt with in the course and analysis skills that emerges only with the help of the teacher, expression in the overall correct language: 18-19

- preparazione su un numero limitato di argomenti affrontati nel corso e capacità di analisi autonoma solo su questioni puramente esecutive, espressione in linguaggio corretto: 20-24

- preparation on a wide number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology: 25-29;

- basically exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis and connection, full mastery of specific terminology and ability to argue and self-reflection: 30-30L.
