Course contents

During the didactics lessons will be reconstruct the history and evolution of abandoned children, with particular reference to Ospedale dei SS. Pietro e Procolo of Bologna (Hospital of abandoned children). Throughout the analysis of the history of the Bolognese institution, the lessons will explain the changes that pertain to a local reality, in strict reference to the national one, also for what concerns the promotion and diffusion of new ways of thinking and perceiving childhood and maternity.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons will be added to group activities focused on different researches, with the aim to analyze documents available at the Provincial Historical Archive of Bologna, in particular for the study of specific examples of abandoned children at the Ospedale degli Esposti of Bologna.

Assessment methods

The evaluation of the students will be focus on the level and type of participation to the different activities proposed during the scheduled meetings, as well as on the analysis and discussion of a working group.
