Academic Year 2024/2025

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Statistical Sciences (cod. 9222)

Learning outcomes

Through the preparation activity of the final examination abroad the student, supervised by a professor and on the basis of a shared project, independently carries out data collections, surveys and research activities abroad, in the domain of his own final dissertation project. At the end of the preparation of the final examination, the student is able to take part in teamwork, to interact with different people and developed his own communication abilities in a foreign language. This activity allows the registration of credits acquired abroad.

Course contents

For those students who will opt for the preparation of the final thesis abroad, the final exam will be divided into two parts: the final exam itself and the preparation of the final thesis abroad. Thus, the student's study plan will be modified as follows:

- the Master Thesis will be removed;
- the following activities will be inserted:

  • 84548 Preparation for the Final Examination Abroad (12 cfu);
  • Final Examination.

To go abroad and work on the final thesis, students are required to do research on a subject shared with the Unibo teacher who will play the role of thesis supervisor and an external researcher based abroad. Once the research activities abroad have been completed, the student must continue with the project agreed with the thesis supervisor in order to obtain the credits associated with the activity Final Examination.

Study grants for dissertations abroad for Unibo students at the Department of Statistical Sciences are regularly provided. For more information on these grants see https://corsi.unibo.it/2cycle/StatisticalSciences/study-grant-for-dissertations-abroad
