from Nov 11, 2024 to Dec 12, 2024
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student knows the statistical methods for process control, designing and realizing quality improvement activities. In particular, the student is able to design factorial experiments and propose appropriate solutions for process development and improvement.

Readings/Bibliography
Compulsory readings:
Montgomery, D. C. (2009). Introduction to Statistical Quality Control, Sixth Edition. John Wiley & Sons.
Lecture notes and exam simulations are available on the platform IOL (https://iol.unibo.it/ )
Teaching methods
Lectures and computer exercises with Excel and R
Assessment methods
The assessment aims to evaluate the achievement of the following learning objectives:
- the knowledge of the fundamental aspects of statistical quality control
- the ability in designing statistical process control activities, acceptance sampling plans, process capability analysis and design of experiments
In order to take the exam registration is mandatory through Almaesami platform.
The exam is written, and it contains 3 or 4 exercises to complete in two hours.
The evaluation is expressed as a grade of out of 30.
The maximum grade is reached by performing all the assigned exercises perfectly.
The exam is passed if the student reaches a total score of 18/30.
Sufficiency (18/30) can be reached by performing at least half of the assigned exercises.
During the exam it is not allowed to consult textbooks or notes. A pocket calculator is necessary.
Teaching tools
Slides in pdf and R-code for the examples in the computer lab.
In consideration of the type of activity and teaching methods adopted, pursuant to the Regulations for Health and Safety in the Workplace, the attendance of computer laboratories for the teaching activities of this course requires prior participation (in e-learning mode) of all students attending the training modules 1 and 2 on safety in the places of study
