Learning outcomes

The student at the end of the course of social security law is able to understand the main legal institutions that relate to the welfare state, both with reference to social security that to social assistance, as well as to orient themselves in the relevant legislation.

The idea of social security in the Italian Constitution

The progressive realization of a social security system in ordinary legislation

The social security system: subjects, legal relationship, events protected, taxable base, contributions

Pensions and Social insurance for invalidity

Industrial accidents and occupation diseases

The social security system for the unemployed

Family allowances

For attending students, the examination can be prepared on the teaching material provided on the dedicated website (https://virtuale.unibo.it/ ), on the notes taken in class and on the following book:

For Non-attending students, the examination should be prepared on the following book and material, according to the limitation indicated as follow:

Mattia Persiani – Madia D’Onghia, Diritto della sicurezza sociale, Giappichelli, Torino, 2022. Excluded chapters 11, 12.

The materials provided in class will be still available on the dedicated website (https://virtuale.unibo.it/ )

Before the start of lessons, students will be notified of the list of preparatory readings.

Teaching methods

The Course is organized in 15 lesson. The material used in class (slides, readings, etc.) will be available in advance.

Assessment methods

The exam consists of an oral examination designed to assess the knowledge acquired by the student and his/her ability to critical analisys of the matter also through the use of an appropriate legal language.

The course of Social Security Law is part of two Integrated Courses:

- Integrated Course in Labour and Social Security Law (curriculum Sociology and Social Research);

- Integrated Course in Social Security and Criminal Law (curriculum Social Work).

Each of the two Courses comprised in the Integrated Course has its own program, its own cycle of lessons and its own exam test with an evaluation expressed in thirtieths.

The final mark of the Integrated Course is unique, is recorded by the teacher of Social security law and is the result of the average of the marks obtained in the two courses (rounded down for fractions of voting ranging between 0.1 and 0.4 and rounded up for fractions of vote between 0.5 and 0.9).

The grades for the single courses of the Integrated course are kept for two academic years.
