Learning outcomes
Students will learn the anatomical organization (gross, microscopic and ultrastructural anatomy) of the digestive system. This knowledge will allow students to better understand digestive system physiology and nutrition. In detail, the student will be able to follow research activities in the field of nutrition, to carry out medical analysis services in hospital or for National Service Clinics.

Oral cavity, tongue and salivary glands: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Pharynx: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Esophagus: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Stomach: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Small intestine: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Large intestine: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Liver and biliary tract: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Pancreas: anatomy, histology and ultrastructure.
Autonomic innervation of the digestive system.

Teaching methods
The course comprises 3 credits: 2 CFU of frontal lessons and 1 CFU of hystological analysis of the digestive system organs. During the lessons, slides will be showed to fully illustrate all the topics of the contents.
Assessment methods
Oral examination and the students will be asked questions related to the topics discussed during the classes.
