Information for property owners

If you are about to leave for a mobility period and would like to temporarily rent out your bed space or accommodation to an international student coming to the University of Bologna, you can contact SAIS (Student Accommodation and Information Service).

SAIS provides housing advice and accommodation search assistance for international guests of the University of Bologna in the Bologna area. The service also supports those who wish to make their accommodation temporarily available.

The service is free of charge and provides assistance throughout the entire process, from publishing the accommodation listing on the SAIS dedicated portal to signing and managing the rental contract.

If you own an apartment or a bed space and would like to rent it to international students participating in mobility programmes (such as Erasmus+) or enrolled at the University of Bologna, or to international professors and researchers, you can contact SAIS (Student Accommodation and Information Service).

SAIS offers housing advice and accommodation search assistance for international guests of the University of Bologna in the Bologna area.

The service is free of charge and provides assistance throughout the entire process, from publishing the accommodation listing on the SAIS dedicated portal to signing and managing the rental contract.

If you own an apartment and wish to rent it out, you can use the Accommodation Board (Vetrina Alloggi) service, a platform where property owners can advertise accommodation available to university students.

To publish a listing, please complete and sign the form Request for Authorisation to Publish Information on Properties Available for Rent to University of Bologna Students (in Italian) [.pdf 13 KB] and send it, together with a copy of an identity document, via the "Scrivici" service on the University of Bologna’s Virtual Helpdesks.

If the information provided in the form is found to be compliant, login credentials will be generated and sent to the applicant, enabling access to the Accommodation Board (Vetrina Alloggi) and the publication of available accommodation.

The University of Bologna and ER.GO will subsequently carry out appropriate checks to verify the accuracy of the declarations submitted by property owners. The University of Bologna and ER.GO assume no responsibility for any legal relationships arising from rental contracts entered into between the parties.

If you register your rental contract, you may be eligible for reduced rates of personal income tax (IRPEF), municipal property tax (IMU), and registration tax for agreed-rent, temporary, or student temporary tenancy contracts.

The guide published by the Italian Revenue Agency (Agenzia delle Entrate) explains the various types of rental contracts, as well as the procedures and advantages of registering a lease contract.

Consult the Italian Revenue Agency's Guide to rental contracts (in Italian).
