Learning outcomes

Learning of notions on the organization of the environment of the intensive care ward; on the assistance to the patient with cardiac and respiratory arrest; on the patient with acute and chronic respiratory failure; on the patient with multiple trauma and on the criterions of sedation, admission and to the intensive care environment.

Course contents

  1. Notions on the organization of the environment of the intensive care ward.
  2. The patient with acute and chronic respiratory failure: pathophysiology and clinical features of the respiratory failure. Methods of assistance to the patient with respiratory failure, oxygen masks, intubation and mechanical ventilation
  3. Assistance to the patient with Cardiac arrest; the survival chain and BLS.
  4. The patient with multiple trauma;
  5. Criterions for sedation and admission to the critical area.

Readings/Bibliography

The content of the lessons will be delivered to the students at the end of the course as printed slides.

Assessment methods

Test of Qualification: a quiz test of 30 questions with multiple answers at the end of the lessons cycle
