TPER subsidies - Bologna and district

Annual passes from €154

Students enrolled in first cycle, second cycle, and single cycle degree programmes, exchange, PhD, master's degree and specialisation school students can purchase annual public transport passes for the Bologna area, including Zone 3 (which includes Ozzano), at the following subsidised rates, further reduced compared to previously applicable costs:

  • €154 for students enrolled in first cycle, second cycle, and single cycle degree programmes and for exchange students
  • €154 for PhD, master's degree and specialisation school students below 27 years of age
  • €180 for PhD, master's degree and specialisation school students over 27 years of age

For extra-urban passes above Zone 3, there is an overall discount of 30% (see detailed price list per Zone [.pdf 40 KB]). Check which Zone you need

To purchase the annual public transport passes, log in to Studenti Online using your University credentials. Due to technical issues, access for master’s degree students is not yet available. It will soon be possible to access it.

The annual public transport pass can be purchased at any time.

Bus passes purchased online at a subsidised rate must be collected from the TPER ticket office in Via Marconi 4, Bologna, before the date on which the pass becomes effective (selected during the purchase process and indicated in the order summary received by e-mail).

It is not permitted to use means of transport without carrying a valid bus pass. The order receipt does not replace the bus pass. If you do not show your bus pass to a ticket inspector, a penalty will be applied as per the TPER travel regulations.

Warning: if you are a student enrolled in first-cycle, second-cycle or single-cycle degree programmes with an ISEE of €35,000 or less, we advise you to take part in the Alma Mater call for applications, described in the following paragraph, and wait for the outcome of the competition before proceeding to purchase the €154 subsidised rate public transport pass, as there are no refunds possible for amounts already paid.

The Alma Mater call for applications is now online, allowing 3,894 students to purchase an annual public transport pass for the Bologna area, including Zone 3, at a cost of €50.

Cost of issuing a new TPER card

The issue of a new microchip card entails a charge of 5 euros, to be paid online when you purchase your public transport pass: the 5 euro fee, in this case, will then be added to the amount you will have to pay.

This applies exclusively to the first issue of a card, i.e. for those who state at the time of purchase that they do not already have a TPER microchip card.

The card is valid for 5 years, during the course of which it can be recharged with new subscriptions (indicating at the time of purchase that you are already in possession of a card and entering its code).

The five-Euro fee is not charged to those who indicate that they are already in possession of a card, even if the card is not rechargeable due to expiry of the 5-year validity or for other technical reasons.
