COBA is the Body responsible for animal welfare (OpBA), it operates as an Ethics Committee for animal testing (CE) and is the University's reference for all animal-related issues. Its duty is to make sure that research projects that involve animal testing are ethically and scientifically acceptable, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The University sends CoBA the research protocols governed by Legislative Decree 26/2014 regarding animal testing, using a telematic system called SPAN (access is reserved to teachers and researchers of the University, who log in using their university username and password). The service is the only way to submit the testing protocols to the Committee. In addition to submitting requests, SPAN also allows researchers to consult and trace the documents they send to the Animal Welfare Committee and monitor the status of their protocols and revision requests.
